- Welcome to the Corseterie Salon, how may I help you Miss?

- Oh I'm not quite sure really... My friend is getting married and she asked me to be a bride's maid at the wedding.   She's the one that suggested I come here.  The dress clings to the body and I don't like the way my tummy sticks out.

- That is nothing to worry about, see here I have this light tummy tucker guarantied  to take care of your little problem.

As she was saying that,  Mrs. Thompson, the matronly lady attending to Crystal, pulled an elongated box from one of the many shelves around the salon styled boutique.  Crystal looked at the proffered garment and held it as Mrs. Thompson handed it over to her.  It was made of two different fabrics.  One, elastic, was a bit rugged to the touch while the other one was like a smooth satin.  The garment was very light but strong.

- This garment is in your size. Would you care to try it on?  The changing room is back here.

- But it's a girdle...

- Yes, it is.  They are coming back you know.  The seventies are over.  More and more women, young and not so young wear them and many even wear corsets.  Right this way please...

Mrs. Thompson motioned Crystal toward the back of the salon and into the changing room.  Crystal had reluctantly followed up on her friend's suggestion that she paid a visit to the Corseterie salon.  She thought she would just go in and browse just like any curious shopper and then get out, mission accomplished.  She had not counted on the no non sense matronly Mrs. Thompson taking charge of the encounter with such authority.  She felt as if mesmerized by this lady.  She just went along with what ever Mrs. Thompson directed her to do.
